Countries - in Black & White and Colour Photography

Here's a little selection out of several thousand snaps taken in Southeast Asia during the years 1987 to 1992. Actually published are the following galleries of Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Thailand I have traveled through the whole country from the most northern point at the Golden Triangle down to the Malaysian border - being fascinated about buddhist culture and religion.

The portfolio of Indonesia mainly concentrates on Sulawesi and there on Tanah Toraja, the land of the Toraja people. I have also traveled through Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok - but Sulawesi, Tanah Toraja, due to its people and spectacular landscapes I found most impressive.

The pictures in the Philippines gallery were taken in Luzon, the main island in the country where also the capital Manila is located, and on the island Boracay, which now has become a famous tourist resort. The Manila snaps were made in December 1989, during the days of the military coup against the Aquino regime.

NEW in the Countries section is the Italy portfolio. It's structured like a journey from Italy's South to the North, from the Basilicata region to Toscana and Maremma, then to Lago di Garda and Delta del Po. The snaps are taken during several trips to Italy in the last couple of years.

Also NEW in the Countries section is the promised Cameroon portfolio. It's structured like a journey through the country, starting in the Sahel region in the North, then through the Mandara Mountains to the West, and from there to Douala in the South, to the Atlantic coast and to the pygmies in the jungle. Special feature is about baptising in the river Wouri. All snaps were taken during the first months of the year 1994.
